Today I’ll be sharing a little about how we’re going about decorating with goldenrod. Also, I’ll be posting a few pictures that I’ve taken recently that just look like “Fall”. Ready to get started?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting out, in case you’re not familiar with goldenrod, here it is in it’s natural state. It grows profusely on our property, and blooms bright yellow\/golden in the autumn. That reason alone is enough to make me like it. (If you haven’t noticed, I really enjoy fall. \ud83d\ude09 ) Now, you’d think that with all of this fall goodness blooming in our yard, we ought to be able to do something with it! I’m sharing two things my family is doing with it, here on the blog. Additionally, I’ve also heard that goldenrod has medicinal benefits, but I’d advise you to do your own research on that. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Decorating With Goldenrod: The Bunches:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

First, we harvest the goldenrod. That’s where my younger brother came in. Above I’ve placed an action shot of the harvesting. Nothing fancy, he just used a knife to cut the stems and that’s it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And, here’s that same brother hanging up a bunch of the goldenrod. By the way, this is in our pole barn, which we reclaimed from the weeds that had taken it over for years. We turned it into a “barn” for functions instead. And, yes, a tractor is also stored in it. But, back to the goldenrod. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personally, I would have been happier if the bunch was tied up with jute twine instead of the orange stuff, but we used what we had. From a little farther away, it looks a lot better, as well. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here’s an “artistic” picture my older sister took. She wanted the gourds (birdhouse gourds from this<\/a> garden) to be seen in the background. Anyway, they do look pretty nice, if I do say so myself. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And, here’s another of the bunches. They just add a nice rustic, fall flair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Wreath:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The second project I’m sharing is this wreath that my mom made for the front door. Mom thinks it needs a little more work, but I, on the other hand, think it looks pretty good! She used a wreath form, fake leaves, and little blue trucks from the dollar store. The goldenrod is from our own yard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And now for those random photos that just look like fall. The first photo is of some gourds we harvested from volunteer vines just behind the pole barn. I’m sure they’ll be used for decorating! The second is one I took yesterday. Can we just appreciate how blue<\/em> the sky is? Plus, I thought the almost bare branches of the buckeye tree a nice touch. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n
