Here we are again! It seems like a long time since I’ve written a blog post. But anyway, here we are with a finished project: A crocheted moose, with a plaid sweater. I made it for one of my nephews for his first birthday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before we get too far into this post, let’s give credit where credit\u2019s due. Here’s a link to the pattern<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you can see, this toy is a little different than the other ones I’ve made. (I’ll leave a link to some of those previous projects here<\/a>, and here<\/a>.) One big difference is that it’s 2D. Meaning, there’s a whole different way to go about making it. Rather than each piece being crocheted in one continuous round (such as the arms, legs and body) each piece is made in two pieces, then attached together. It was a little tricky to get used to!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another difference was the plaid. I’ve never done so many color changes, but after getting used to how to do it, it wasn’t too difficult. It was<\/em> time-consuming, however. Anyway, at least I’ve learned a new skill! Plus, I love the look of the buffalo plaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The face also gave me a little trouble. I had to redo the nostrils, since they ended up looking like a second pair of eyes. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice that until I asked my mom what she thought of the face. That’s why it’s always good to get a second opinion before you can’t go back and change it. Luckily I was able to fix the nostrils pretty easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here’s one of my favorite pieces on the moose…the antlers! Contrary to what it may seem like, these two pieces were the hardest to make. At least, for me it was. The balance of stuffing while crocheting the two sides together was a little more difficult to handle than the other parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, it was eventually finished and gifted. I hope my nephew likes it, though it’s a little hard to tell with someone so young. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n
