Hello! Today’s Reading Wednesday post is going to be a little more festive as we take a look at Louisa May Alcott’s Christmas Treasury. Let’s begin!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considering the season, I was taking stock recently of what books I had that concerned Christmas. Of course, I have the typical A Christmas Carol<\/em>, etc, but I also have this little collection of stories. I read it (again) over the past few days, and thought that I’d recommend it here on the blog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of the stories in the collection follow the same pattern. Meaning, poor families at a loss as to how they would have a proper Christmas, and then ending up with as much or more than they hoped for. Mostly due to their own work or the helping hand of more fortunate neighbors, or a combination of the two. There are a few exceptions to this formula, such as the story of the hospital Christmas, or of Mr’s Podger’s teapot, but the same general theme runs through them all: Kindness gives back more than it costs the giver, and that wonderful things happen at Christmastime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the stories in the books do bear a striking resemblance to others in the same book, but they are pretty entertaining. I do have my favorites, however. The hospital Christmas is one, as well as the story of the country Christmas (which just happens to feature an Emily \ud83d\ude09 ). I’m curious what you’re favorites would be!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
