Hello! Today is the last post in a series I’ve been doing about books connected with Laura Ingalls Wilder. So far we’ve talked about books written about her great-grandmother<\/a>, grandmother<\/a>, mother<\/a>, and Laura<\/a> herself. Today’s series is about her daughter, Rose. Otherwise known as The Rose Years<\/em>. Let’s get started!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, this is another series where I don’t actually have all of the books. I only have three out of eight. I do think that these three gave me a pretty good idea of what the others would be like. When I read them several years ago, if I’m remembering correctly, I wasn’t too crazy about the writing styles of these books compared to the other series’. I still wanted to put them on the blog, however, since other people have different tastes from myself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first book, Rose and her parents, Laura and Almanzo, leave the dry Midwest and travel to Missouri. It picks up right where The First Four Years<\/em> left off, so that’s interesting. The little family settles on a farm called Rocky Ridge, and are happy, despite their poverty. The third book continues the story of Rocky Ridge Farm, chronicling how the Wilder’s truly make the place into a home, even with hardships and mishaps. In the fifth book, hard times drive the Wilder’s from their farm and into the town of Mansfield. Rose isn’t sure she’ll like the town, but I guess you’ll have to read the books to find out what happens next. \ud83d\ude09 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And as has been true with the other series’, they are intended for younger readers. If you do read them, don’t expect Shakespeare! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n
