It had been sitting in my to-be-altered pile for awhile, since I wasn&#8217;t sure what exactly to do with it. Then, a few days ago, I was looking through that pile and found this skirt. A solution immediately popped into my head. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>     I decided that though it was a bad length as it was, I could cut it at the right place, add a waistband at the new top, and there you go, a new skirt! I wasn&#8217;t sure if I wanted to use wide elastic or just some cotton cord for a drawstring at the waistband (both are pictured) which is why I made the new waistband so wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/simplyemilyrose.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/0FC0A108-51A4-4584-8191-9847901D46BC.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-172\" srcset=\"https:\/\/simplyemilyrose.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/0FC0A108-51A4-4584-8191-9847901D46BC.jpeg 480w, https:\/\/simplyemilyrose.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/0FC0A108-51A4-4584-8191-9847901D46BC-225x300.jpeg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>     Next, I folded over and pinned in place the fabric for the new waistband next to the seam of the second tier, leaving space for elastic or a cord. After I sewed it, I decided on elastic.  I&#8217;m now glad that I did, since it is a lot less fuss not to have to tie the cord every time I wear the skirt, and there was also the possibility of the cord being pulled back into the waistband itself, which would have been difficult to pull out again. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/simplyemilyrose.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/A5B6D35E-908F-4B18-BFCB-E29AB646E90B.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-173\" srcset=\"https:\/\/simplyemilyrose.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/A5B6D35E-908F-4B18-BFCB-E29AB646E90B.jpeg 480w, https:\/\/simplyemilyrose.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/A5B6D35E-908F-4B18-BFCB-E29AB646E90B-225x300.jpeg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>     This is how it turned out. All in all, it was a pretty quick project, and I like how it looks. If I was going to do anything differently, I probably would have paid a little more attention to the inside stitching.
