Hello! Today we’ll be looking at sewing a denim skirt, the final steps. I’ll link to the first two posts here<\/a> and here<\/a>. Let’s get started!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have kind of a love-hate relationship with installing zippers. Sometimes it’s easy and turns out great. Sometimes it’s just the opposite. \ud83d\ude09 Lately, however, I have been trying to get more confident in this aspect. In my case, that seems to mean trying again and again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also thought of another way that would (possibly) make installing invisible zippers easier, but I think I’ll save it until my next skirt sewing post. I have to test it out, anyway. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next step, obviously was to finish installing the zipper and sewing up the side seam. For some inexplicable reason, I don’t have any pictures of that. We’ll be moving on to the hemming now!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sewing a Denim Skirt: The Final Step<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For the hemming, I hadn’t decided if I would only be folding it over once or not. I decided to finish the edges of the skirt with a zig zag stitch, just in case the edge would be exposed. Then I pinned up the skirt to the length I thought I wanted and sewed it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That length ended up being a little too<\/em> long, so I flipped it over once more and sewed it up. That proved to be just about perfect! You’ve probably already seen the finished product, but I’ll link to that post here<\/a>. I love how it turned out, plus it only took me about three days to make! (That was mainly due to the length and many panels. A shorter skirt could have been finished in a smaller amount of time.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oh, and if you’re interested in sewing, I have several more sewing projects to be posted here on the blog. And don’t worry, not all<\/em> of them are denim skirts. \ud83d\ude09 I also have a few yarn projects to post as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
