Hello again! Today on Reading Wednesday we’ll be taking a look at another historical fiction novel, this one set in 1613: Adventures in Jamestown<\/em>. (The last book I did in this series was set in 1941. I’ll link to it here<\/a>.) Let’s get started!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This novel again follows the lives of two young women. Namely, Abigail and Elizabeth. As the first one is, it’s presented in the form of letters exchanged between the two women. An interesting form, in my opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abigail has traveled to the New World, and has not exactly had a pleasant time of it. The harsh winter, the sickness and disease, and fear of the Indians keep Abigail occupied; as well as the general fight for survival as she and the other settlers carve out a life for themselves in Jamestown. Tragedy strikes her family not long after she arrives. What will be her fate? Will she find forgiveness in her heart for those who caused her pain?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elizabeth, on the other hand, remains in England; and fights against a different sort of foe. She wants to learn as much as she can, but the usual education for young ladies of that day does not fulfill that wish. Elizabeth yearns for adventure, and is interested in all that happens to her friend Abigail. What will be her fate? Will she attain the knowledge she craves?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ll leave a link to the book here<\/a>. For myself, I actually found the books at a homeschool convention, so I would suggest keeping an eye out wherever you are. Who knows, you just might find something else worth reading if you do!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
