Hello again! Today on Reading Wednesday we’ll be taking a look at another classic novel: Emma<\/em>. (I posted another Jane Austen novel a few weeks ago<\/a>, as well.)<\/p>\n\n\n

As I said in another post, I’ve been reading through all of the Jane Austen novels again. Since I’m making my way through Emma<\/em> right now, I thought I’d recommend it here on the blog. I was actually surprised when I realized I hadn’t<\/em> written about it yet!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emma<\/em> is the story of, obviously, Emma Woodhouse. Young, beautiful, rich, and clever but with an unfortunate penchant for matchmaking. And for also thinking she has nothing more to learn in life. She befriends young Harriet Smith near the beginning of the book, and after an ill-fated scheme to set the young lady up with the town’s vicar fails miserably, Emma declares she’ll not try to make anymore matches between her acquaintances. Of course, will she really be able to resist?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This novel also has an interesting assortment of secondary characters, such as Miss Bates, Mr Knightley, the Eltons, Frank Churchill, the Westons, etc. All written skillfully by Jane Austen, naturally. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n
