Hello! Today on Simply Saturday we’ll be taking a look at a Denim Skirt Alteration: Part Two. Let’s get started!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting right off where I left off last week: The next step was to figure out how much smaller I needed to make the bottom skirt portion. If I’m remembering correctly, I cut off about eight inches.<\/p>\n\n\n

I then did large stitches along the upper edge of the skirt, for gathering. Which was the next step, as I pinned the tiered skirt to the upper smooth portion.<\/p>\n\n\n

And you can see what that looked like here. This was just to get the size right for the gathering. I then unpinned the tiered portion and removed both sections from the dress form.<\/p>\n\n\n

I then pinned the two sections together again, right sides together.<\/p>\n\n\n

And after sewing it up, I was left with this. Which was close, but still not quite<\/em> what I was looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n

The next thing I did was iron the seam.<\/p>\n\n\n

And topstitched that seam.<\/p>\n\n\n

Here’s what that looked like in a little more detail.<\/p>\n\n\n

And this is the finished product, so far as this post goes, at least. Let me explain: I thought that I had finished with the skirt, but after a little more consideration, I removed the brown trim, ironed out the hem, turned up the bottom edge about a quarter inch, and hand stitched it in place. None of which I took a photo of, for one reason or another. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n
