Hello again! Today I’ll be sharing a few more books written by Jannette Oke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may remember how in last week’s Reading Wednesday post<\/a>, I said that I had picked up a few more books written by Janette Oke at the same time as The Tender Years<\/em>. Well, today I’ll be sharing two more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Woman Named Damaris<\/em>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

First up, A Woman Named Damaris<\/em>. Let me just say here that though I do like this one, I liked the second in the set much better. But, more on that later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Woman Named Damaris<\/em> is about a young woman with a troubled past setting out on her own. She travels West on a wagon train, and eventually makes it to a small Western town. Due to her past, she finds it hard to trust or feel comfortable with those around her, all except, that is, a woman named Miss Dover. Miss Dover embodies all that Damaris would like to be as she grows up, though Damaris can’t put her finger on what sets Miss Dover apart from the others. She eventually discovers the secret, as she is taken into the “family” that is made up of Miss Dover, a young man named Gil, and now Damaris. However, I won’t give away all the details here…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roses For Mama<\/em>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Next, let’s look into Roses for Mama<\/em>. This is the story of a brother and sister, Angela and Thomas, as they try and raise their three younger siblings and run the farm after the death of both of their parents. The story mostly centers around Angela, as she wrestles with dilemmas in caring for her younger siblings. She worries over wether or not she’ll be able raise them the way her mother would have wanted. Things are complicated further by the arrival of a neighbor’s son, a dashing young man who quickly sweeps Angela off her feet. She isn’t aware, however, that another young man also desires her hand in marriage…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
