Who’s up for a Summer garden tour? \ud83d\ude09 You may remember how a couple of months ago I posted a garden tour<\/a>. Back then, it was mostly just dirt, mulch, and a few small green plants. Well, with the long, hot, rainy days of Summer, the garden has grown considerably! Now, I’ll just let you know: this post contains a lot of photos! Let’s get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the right side of the front of the garden, we have several pepper plants. Banana peppers, bell peppers, etc. We’ve harvested a pretty fair amount from these plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then in the middle of the front of the garden, we have tomato plants. We’ve had a little trouble with tomato worms, rot, and the occasional escape artist chicken. \ud83d\ude09 But, we’ve still harvested a good amount. We’ve canned tomato sauce, and used the fresh tomatoes on sandwiches, tacos, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mingled into the front row of the garden are several volunteer watermelon plants. They’re thriving! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

On the opposite end of the pepper plants, we’ve planted ornamental gourds. I’m excited to use these as decoration in the Autumn. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next four rows of the garden are full of Crowder Peas. These have really been coming in nicely for the past week or so. After these are harvested, we shell them and then can them. (That’s actually what my mom is doing as I’m writing this). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next rows are full of okra. I’m not sure why the heights are so different going down the row. Hopefully they’ll start producing soon. We used seeds saved from last year’s okra harvest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have a short row of beans a little further on from the okra, but I didn’t get a very good picture of those… \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then there a few squash and zucchini plants scattered in the middle of the garden. Those are just starting to produce. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this cattle panel (that you can’t see anymore \ud83d\ude09 ) we have Loofa vines. We weren’t sure if these seeds would actually grow, so we planted more than we needed just in case. Obviously, the seeds grew… \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other side of that cattle panel wall, we have birdhouse gourds and cucumbers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And along the back of the garden is the pumpkin\/watermelon\/squash patch. I’ve always loved the idea of a pumpkin patch, so I was pretty happy when I saw that they’re actually growing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
