Black, Gold, and Burgundy

Hello! Today is the first Modest Monday post, I hope you enjoy!

This is the outfit I wore to church a few weeks ago. Please ignore the strange things the wind was doing to my hair 😉 This is a very simple outfit, but I’ll have to admit that it took trying on several different combinations to come up with this one, which took time that I really don’t have on a Sunday morning when we are trying to get to church on time. One of my personal goals for starting this blog and posting outfits was to utilize more of my wardrobe and to be more creative with my outfits, but I also don’t want to spend time I don’t have stressing over how I look, or if the outfit is “perfect”.

A word on the heels: I really like these shoes, but sometimes I feel pretty self-conscious about wearing heels in general since it seems like I tower over everyone else (I’m only 5’4, but our family is pretty short. I’m the tallest girl even without heels.) That day I decided just to wear them anyway. I also made sure that I wore a long enough skirt so that it wouldn’t be too short with the heels.

Outfit Details: The sweater I borrowed from my mom. I’m not sure where she got it. The short-sleeve shirt and heels were both hand-me-downs.

The skirt I bought off of Amazon. It seems like it stains very easily, and now that I’m looking at these photos, I’m realizing that it also wrinkles pretty easily too. It’s still comfortable, though, and I really like the color.

The necklace was in a set of jewelry my older brother gave me for my birthday a few years ago. It’s a little tarnished, but I just tell myself it’s supposed to look that way! 😉

Well, I’d better go. Have a nice day! ~ Emily
