For the Young
Or perhaps this could be alternately titled, For the young at heart. Today I’ll be sharing a few of my favorite books for younger readers. Let’s get started!
Some of these stories I’ll be sharing are a favorite merely because of the illustrations. This collection however, also has merit in the stories. No doubt you’ve read them before, and enjoyed them, but is there a young person in your life that hasn’t experienced the magic of Winnie the Pooh yet? 😉
My family picked up this book at a convention. The stories are funny, and also feature a short devotional-like section at the end of each tale. A personal favorite of mine is Owl’s Problem.
Could a list like this not include the stories of Beatrix Potter? I love the illustrations in this collection. There’s something so winsome and pleasant about them. A personal favorite story is The Tale of Two Bad Mice.
This is another that the illustrations really separate it from the others. I also love the story itself, even if it is bittersweet. I remember reading it many times when I was little.
It may have been from this book (and the others in the series) that I came by my love of flowery descriptions and slice of life storytelling. It didn’t hurt that I also loved the illustrations. 😉
I’ve been looking at these books lately because of a certain project of mine that I may or may not be sharing in the near future. We’ll see. Anyway, have you read these stories? Until next time ~ Emily
