Finished: Cable Knit Scarf

Finished: Cable Knit Scarf

Today on Simply Saturday (and also the first post of 2022: Happy New Year!) we’ll be taking a look at one of my most recent finished projects: a cable knit scarf.

Here you can see the scarf, and the pattern. It my have been a little ambitious for my first real knitting project. Especially since I planned on giving it as a Christmas gift. The actual knitting part was easy enough, but I greatly underestimated the amount of time it would take to work it up. It felt like months, but I think it only took about a month of working on it whenever I could. I used the pattern from this website. It was easy to follow, and I just printed out a copy to carry with me in my knitting bag.

I used a pair of size 6 needles, a cable needle, row counter, and point protectors.

This is the type of yarn I used. I wanted to use 100% wool, and this worked well. I’m not sure if it was particularly coarse for wool or not, but I still have the calluses on my fingers from working on it! I was able to make a five inch wide, about 46 inch long scarf with a good amount of yarn leftover…

…which you can see here. Altogether, it was a pretty nice project to work on my knitting ability a little. Unfortunately, I did have to gift it still on the needle…and then take it back to finish. My sister didn’t mind too much (I don’t think 😉 ) but I still would have liked to have finished it before gifting it. I guess next time I make a cable knit scarf I’ll think to give myself a little more time!

Well, that’s all for now! I hope you enjoyed this post. 🙂 Do you have any projects planned for the new year? ~ Emily
