Denim and Mustard Dress
Hello! Today on Modest Monday I have a combination of denim and mustard (the color, of course 😉 ). Let’s get started!
These photos were actually taken last spring. Somehow they never made it onto the blog. Until now, that is. I did wear this same combination just a week or two ago, so it’s still something I’d wear. 🙂 It does look a bit more like fall than spring or winter, but I’m not usually too strict about stuff like that.
The thing that makes this outfit sort of interesting are the accessories. The necklace, the bracelet, the earrings, the jacket and boots. Without them, it would just be a plain flower printed dress. But, when you add the other items, it becomes more interesting to look at. I can’t say that I’m very good at accessorizing, but I’ve definitely been experimenting more since starting this blog. Outfits such as this ( as simple as it may seem) probably never would have been worn before I started trying to find new combinations.
Sometimes I just feel like when I add too many components to an outfit, I’m just worrying about what it looks like, fidgeting with it, etc. That’s why earrings are some of my favorite accessories. Not a lot of fussing necessary, and they’re not usually in the way at all. But they do add something to an outfit, if the right pair is worn. Sweaters and shrugs have also become an easy way for me to add layering and interest without a lot of fuss. In fact, one of my older sisters just recently called me the “queen of shrugs.” I’m not exactly sure it was a compliment. 😉
Denim and Mustard Outfit Details:
The denim jacket is from J.C.Penney. The same is true of the boots. I bought the dress on Amazon. It’s a little pilled, etc, but I think it can still be worn. The jewelry is a mixture of gifts and hand-me-down. As a result, I don’t really know where they were bought. 😉
Well, that’s all for now! Are you enjoying the winter? What’s your favorite accessorizing piece? ~ Emily
