Amigurumi Art
Hello again! Here I have for you a little compilation of finished projects that I thought might make for an interesting little Simply Saturday post. 😉
All of the animals pictured below were given as gifts to most of my nieces and nephews. I used patterns made by other crocheters, a few of them have my own variations, however. I’ll link to the patterns or something as close as I can find, so that you can make them for yourselves. 🙂
This turtle was the first animal I completed in this style. I gave it to my one-year-old niece. It was pretty simple, all in all, though I did find out (in the middle of the project) that the pattern I was using had a few defects. The pattern didn’t correctly show how to finish the stomach or head of the turtle. I remedied the former by crocheting a circle with the exact amount of stitches as the base of the shell and sewing it on. With the head I just drew the hole at the back of the head closed like a drawstring bag, then sewed it in place. I was pretty happy with how it turned out, especially for my first try. 🙂
I’ve found the pattern here
This cute little bear I made as a gift for my two-year-old nephew. The only problem I had with this little guy was the fact that the arms looked rather spindly at the place where they attached to the body. I had planned to make a little sweater to hide that part, but I found out (after I had already made the bear) that the sweater was a little too advanced for my taste. Instead, I made these overalls without a pattern. It took a lot of trying them on the bear, crocheting a few stitches, and trying them on again to make it look right, but they turned out pretty well, in my opinion! 😉
Here’s the pattern
Next up, Winnie the Pooh! (Please ignore the different lighting in these two photos, I’m not sure why it looks like that. On my screen, at least, the side view is much truer to the actual color) This one was a gift for my three-year-old niece. She loves Winnie the Pooh! 🙂 This yarn was, for some reason, very difficult to find. I wanted the perfect color and weight, but it took going to several craft stores (and doubling back again!) to find this one. I was a little worried that after the long search for the yarn this pattern would prove too difficult for me, but I was pleasantly surprised!
And the pattern, here. (this is the same as for the bear below)
This little Care Bear look-alike was a gift for my four-year-old niece. I actually started with a different pattern, very much like this one, but it was turning out a lot smaller than I wanted as I was working on it. I decided instead to reuse the Winnie the Pooh bear pattern, just using different colors and changing a few details. I wanted to make it accurate to the plush Care Bears, so I added the white patches and hearts myself. I was pleased with the result!
Alright, I’m coming to the end of my saga. 😉 I made this cat for my other four-year-old niece. Oh, and by the way, any resemblance to Hello Kitty was entirely unintentional. 😉 On second thought, it was probably a bad idea to make this cat white, since that color would look dirty the quickest. Fortunately, it still looks pretty clean even though I gifted it almost five months ago. 🙂 I have had to reattach the arms ( they were a little loose) since then, but other than that, it’s held up well!
And here’s the pattern for this last one. 🙂
I hope you liked this post. Perhaps you gleaned some ideas for your own gift giving! Happy crocheting! ~ Emily
