The Hidden Hand

Hello again! Today on Reading Wednesday I’ll be recommending one of my most recent acquisitions: The Hidden Hand. Let’s get started!

The Hidden Hand is a book published by Lamplighter; and was written by the same author who wrote Ishmael and Self-Raised (two other novels I’ve posted on here). There are some similarities between the three novels: traveling to distant shores, at least one of the female main characters having black ringlets, somewhat unrealistic young men, etc. 😉

The novel begins with “Old Hurricane”, the explosively-tempered tenant of Hurricane Hall. He is called out into a stormy night on an interesting errand: to hear the dying confession of an old woman. The results of that interview sends Old Hurricane on a search to find a missing orphan. He ends up finding more than he bargained for.

The Hidden Hand is pretty entertaining. Some scenes, however, are a little more gruesome than I would have expected (though I would advise you not to take them at face value). Keep reading and you’ll find a story of forgiveness, romance, adventure, and, of the dangers of jumping to conclusions.

Where to find The Hidden Hand:

I’ll leave a link to the novel here.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this post! Until next time ~ Emily
