The First Look
Hello, how are you on this fine Modest Monday?
I wore this outfit to church yesterday. As you can see, I finished the skirt I was working on! It turned out really well, and though I might shorten the hemline a teeny bit (it looks a bit awkward as it is if I wore flats) I’m really happy with it! It felt good to accomplish a project like this. Previously, I’ve only made skirts with denim, and never with so many gores!
We had some fun with this photoshoot. 🙂 I wanted to get some twirling pictures to show how full the skirt is. It would be really nice to wear to a barn dance! I also kind of feel like this skirt should be worn with a crinoline, what do you think? I have several, so I might try it sometime… Oh, and if you’re wondering who my photographer is, you can thank my younger brother for the outfit photos. 😉
I tried to keep the jewelry in this outfit simple and mostly floral themed to go with my skirt. My earrings are actually tiny little roses, though you can’t really tell in these photos. I thought the color theme and skirt fabric sort of hinted at vintage spring. I like it! The necklace was a birthday gift, and I have no idea where the earrings came from. 😉
Outfit details: This shrug you’ve seen before in another outfit post. I’ve been really glad about that purchase! The shrug goes with almost everything in my closet. It’s so easy to slip over tank-tops to make them modest. I bought it at BJ’s. The tank was borrowed from my mom. I think it was St. John’s Bay brand, from J.C.Penney. Obviously, the skirt I made myself, the fabric I bought at Joanne’s. The heels were picked up from a thrift store a few years ago.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this little post. See you soon ~ Emily
