Stories of two young women
Hello! It’s the day I’ve set aside for sharing books I’ve read and enjoyed. Let’s get started, shall we?
I’ll begin with this one. Stepping Heavenward is a book about a young woman named Katherine Mortimer. It’s written in the form of diary entries and in some cases, letters, which makes for an interesting reading experience. The story begins just as Katherine turns sixteen, and continues on through the many trials and triumphs that occur in her life as she grows and matures into a woman. (Though, I might add, some of the trials and triumphs are a product of the time period and don’t necessarily resonate with us now). The heroine is by no means perfect. She loses her temper and has other faults as well, which only makes the book more realistic. I’m sure that you yourself will relate to many of the emotions she portrays. Anyway, I hope you give it a read!

I read this book a few years ago, but it didn’t really peak my interest. However, a few weeks ago, I read it again and found it much more to taste. Funny how that happens. 😉
The book is about the lively Kit Tyler, a young woman abruptly uprooted from her native shores of the Caribbean Islands. Consequently, she travels to Connecticut, where she finds that though her family will take her in (sort of) the rest of the townsfolk will take some persuading before they fully accept her. She tries her best to fit in, but soon finds it taxing work. The conclusion of the novel is exciting and satisfying. I hope you read it for yourself!

Well, that’s all for now. As always ~ Emily
