Denim + Stripes
Happy second day of Summer! I have another outfit and hairstyle to share with you. π
I wore this outfit on Memorial Day. I went for a sort of understated red, white, and blue theme. (Oh, and while my brother and I were trying to take these pictures, we were a little distracted when the pigs escaped from their pen. Hopefully the pictures didn’t turn out too terribly, though. π )
As you can see, I incorporated patriotic colors with the blue headband (which is actually an old skirt waistband) red, button earrings, and white, striped shirt. Nothing crazy, as you can see, but I like the simplicity of it. I’ll probably wear something a little brighter for Independence Day, though. π
For the hairstyle, I had a vague idea of the look I wanted and worked from there. First, I scrunched my hair together at the back of my head and used bobby pins to give it the right shape. Then, I cut the waistband off of the top of a skirt I’ve altered (This one, actually). After I had tied the headband/waistband around my head, I used a claw clip on the knot to keep it secure. Oh, and with headbands I also like to use a few bobby pins to keep it from slipping around. And that was that! An easy hairstyle that, in my opinion, suits curly hair.
Outfit Details:
The shirt was another find from the thrift store. (99 cents!). The tank was purchased at J.C.Penney, I believe. I also bought the skirt at a thrift store. The brand is Larry Levine. The flip flops are from T.J.Maxx. Lastly, the bracelet was a graduation gift, and the earrings were made by my older sister years ago.
On a side note: I’ve actually found that the best (and sometimes only) place to find cute, modest denim skirts is a thrift store. Usually the ones you find in a clothing store, if you can find any, are too short, or too expensive, etc. So thrift store it is! Unless, of course, you want to make a skirt. But, more on that later. π
How do you like to incorporate red, white, and blue in an outfit? Until later ~ Emily
