Completed: Patchwork Denim Skirt
Today I’ll be sharing a few photos of my new patchwork denim skirt (the making of which is here, and here) as part of an outfit. Let’s get started!
And here it is! I paired it with a long shirt, since it’s a little low-waisted (more on that later). I didn’t want to worry about bending over and my shirt pulling up, etc. It’s a simple outfit, but I think the skirt adds a little interest to it. Hopefully that’s not just me. 😉
Another thing I’d note about his skirt is that it is pretty stiff. It especially appears so in these pictures. I’m hoping that some of it will work out in time, but as a whole I’m pretty pleased with it. That is, after I did some minor adjustments, which you’ll hear about below.
Now, about being low-waisted. I wore this skirt on a day when we were away from the house for the morning and into the afternoon. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize before we left that the skirt was way too big. I think it actually stretched through the day, so by the time we got home it felt like it was going to fall off. Not a good thing. 😉 I decided that adding a seam into the back would be the quickest (and least involved) way to make it smaller. That was accomplished shortly after we got home. And the rest, as they say, is history. (But, seriously now. The seam really did make it much better. 😉 )
I added the blue earrings since they matched the skirt almost perfectly. Did anyone else actually notice that? I have no idea. 😉
Patchwork Denim Skirt Outfit Details:
The shirt was from Old Navy. The skirt, obviously, I made myself. The necklace and earrings were gifts. And the flip-flops are also Old Navy brand.
So, what do you think of patchwork denim skirts? I think it’s a pretty fun way to recycle old denim. Until next time ~ Emily
