Crocheted Winter Hat
Hello! As I’m sure you know, it’s Simply Saturday. Today we’ll be taking a look at a crocheted winter hat I made in January. Let’s get started!
And here it is! Admittedly, these photos aren’t the best, but maybe a little later I can actually model the hat. Those photos will probably make it onto my Instagram, however.
I’ll leave a link to the pattern I used here.
It was a pretty easy pattern to follow, but I did have to add some more stitches to the pattern to make it actually fit. The pattern said it was made for an adult woman, but it wouldn’t have fit if I had followed it exactly. I’m usually a pretty tight crocheter, so I’m thinking that that was probably the problem with it being too small. Unless I just have an especially large head. 😉
Crocheted Winter Hat: The Yarn
I used this Hue + Me from Lionbrand in the color Love Song. And yes, it almost perfectly matched the chaise fabric under it. That wasn’t intentional. 😉
The picture where it just looks like a mat is when I was working it up. (It also shows the true color better than the first photos did.) It came together pretty quickly, probably thanks to the bulky yarn and 9.0mm needle. I’m usually working with pretty small needles and yarn.
I had been wanting to make something a little different from my usual blankets and animals, so this was a welcome change.
I was a little unsure about whether or not it looked stupid after I finished it. Mainly because I don’t wear hats very often, so it was a little hard for me to tell. After it was worn a couple times and got a little softer, I think it looks better than it did. Stay tuned for those photos of it actually being worn. 🙂
That’s all for now! Have you ever crocheted a winter hat? ~ Emily
