Grandma’s Attic: All Grown Up

Grandma’s Attic: All Grown Up

Hello! Today we’ll be continuing the topic of last week’s post with stories from Grandma’s Attic: All Grown Up. Let’s start!

I enjoyed the books in this series documenting the older years of the characters better than the preceding ones. Which, incidentally, is the case with many of the books I’ve written about here on the blog. 😉 I guess the events of the book just kept my attention better than the hijinks of the younger years.

As you can see in the photo, the books follow the characters a fair way into womanhood, marriage, and becoming mothers. The first one picks up a few years after the last books of the first series. The two main characters remain the same, with Mabel and Sarah Jane taking center stage.

The first books chronicles their experiences at the academy in town. In the second, Mabel becomes a school teacher, and also deals with the attention of several young men, as well as the problems she faces in her schoolhouse. In the third, she marries, but is anything really as simple as that? The fourth book provides a change of setting, as Mabel settles into her new life with her husband. The fifth sees Mabel becoming a mother, and facing the gossip of her small town. The sixth book contains even more stories about the happenings, both joyous and otherwise, of the two friends in their small town of North Branch.

Where to find Grandma’s Attic: All Grown Up

Unfortunately I could not find a boxed set, or even all of the books. I did see a few on Amazon, however, so with some more digging something might turn up. Secondhand bookstores or thrift stores might turn something up as well.

That’s all for now! I hope you enjoyed this post. ~ Emily
