Handmade Shirt and Skirt
Hello! Today on Modest Monday we’ll be taking a look at a handmade shirt and skirt. Let’s get started!
You might recognize this skirt as the one I wore in this post. Ever since I made it, it’s quickly become one of my favorite skirts, handmade or otherwise.
And, as it happens, I also made the shirt! (Keep an eye out for the Simply Saturday post about that.) I had been shying away from making my own shirts, since it seemed like it would be hard to make it look like it wasn’t homemade. Generally when people say something looks homemade, that’s not usually a good thing. I’m not sure if maybe I just stopped caring about that so much, or maybe the shirt doesn’t look that bad, but, I actually like it! 😉
It’s pretty cool wearing an entire outfit that I’ve made. Sure, I’ve made dresses before, but that doesn’t feel quite the same as a handmade shirt and skirt that can be mixed and matched with other items in my closet as well.
Plus, it’s just a lot of fun running through fields, barefoot, in this skirt. If you don’t have a long, flowy skirt, I highly suggest getting (or making) one. 😉
Now that I’ve successfully completed a few shirts, I’m excited to try other articles of clothing I previously thought would be too difficult. Any suggestions?
You may have noticed that it was pretty windy when we were trying to get these photos. This last one is me trying to keep my hair out my face (and ending up a little strange looking 😉 ) but it does give a good view of the front of the shirt.
Handmade Shirt and Skirt Outfit Details:
The shirt and skirt I made, obviously. The earrings, which I also wore in this post, were hand-me-downs. And I’m not wearing shoes, so there isn’t really too much to say here… 😉
Well, I hope you enjoyed this post! How’s your February going? ~ Emily

[…] Or rather, how to make a t-shirt if you already made a pattern. 😉 We’ll have to work on that. But, this in indeed the post I hinted at on a Modest Monday post a few weeks ago. […]
