First Outfit of Spring
Hello! Today on Modest Monday we’ll be taking a look at my first outfit of spring! (Meaning: the outfit I wore on the first day of spring, of course. 😉 ) Let’s get started!
For this outfit, I wanted something spring-y, but also something I hadn’t worn in a while. So, I came up with this: a plum-colored skirt and floral shirt. I then added coordinating accessories; with the silver leaf earrings, silver bracelet, and silver necklace. Due to the awkward length of the skirt, I opted for my favorite (and only 😉 ) pair of black heels.
Oh, and in case you’re curious, I actually made the shirt. Using practically the same technique as when I made my green t-shirt. (I’ll link to those posts here and here.) The exception to the process was that, with this shirt, I used the elongated pattern pieces; which eliminated the need for the extra panel of fabric around the bottom edge. I think the other one looks fine with the extra panel, but decided to try making the shirt without it. Fortunately, I don’t think this shirt looks like I made it, as several people were surprised when they found out that I had. 😉
First Outfit of Spring Details:
The shirt, obviously, I made myself. I purchased the fabric at Joann’s. The skirt was from the thrift store (and is, curiously enough, one size fits all. How well does that really work? 😉 ) The heels were also from a thrift store. And the earrings were from J.C.Penney, the necklace from Walmart, and the bracelet, Alex and Ani.
Well, that’s about it for now. How are you feeling about spring beginning? Personally, I’m enjoying the warmer weather (especially having the windows open), but I’m definitely not looking forward to the melting summer temperatures. 😉 Anyway, until next time ~ Emily
