Bear with a Bow
Hello again! Today on Simply Saturday we’ll be taking a look at an Amigurumi bear with a bow that I recently made. Let’s get started!
This is actually the fourth interpretation I’ve made of this pattern. (I’ll link to those other versions here and here.) It’s proved very customizable!
I made this bear for my youngest niece as a birthday present. She turned one just a few days ago. When I was trying to decide on what to make for her, I knew it had to be bear, but I wanted to make it more interesting than that. Even after I had finished the initial body of the bear, I still wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. Then I added the bow, and that naturally led to the little overall-skirt. What do you think?
To make the skirt, I first made a chain that would fit snugly around the area that I wanted the skirt to sit on the bear. Then I did a series of double crochet stitches, half double crochets, chains, and skips; until I had it at the length I wanted it. I was making it up as I went along, but I think it turned out pretty cute!
It was actually supposed to be just a skirt, but I thought that looked a little strange when I tried it out. So I added the bib in front, and the straps. After I had assembled everything onto the bear, I tacked down the edges of the skirt so that it couldn’t be removed or shift out of place.
Bear with a Bow: Wrapping Up
And contrary to how it usually is with one-year-old’s, my niece actually seemed to like the bear! Plus she was wearing a pink bow in her hair as well, so they matched. 😉
Well, I guess that’s all for now. Do you make gifts or buy them? ~ Emily
