The Journals of Corrie Bell Hollister
Hello again. Today on Reading Wednesday we’ll be taking a look at the (fictional) journals of Corrie Bell Hollister. Let’s get started!
To start with, I have to say that these books have been sitting on my bookshelf for a long while, and for some reason or other, I never read them. Recently, however, I’ve been trying to read through all of my “neglected novels”; which meant even these two books. And so I read them, and honestly, they’re probably not anywhere near my list of favorite books. The pacing at the beginning of the novels just seemed to have something strange about it. And it was pretty difficult for me to sympathize with the characters, at least at the beginning; as I read I was gradually drawn into the story.
Still, the stories were alright, and I think that anyone who is a little more into stories consisting of kids “saving the day” would probably enjoy them. 😉 And just be prepared for not-so-well-set-up plot twists!
Where to find The Journals of Corrie Bell Hollister:
I’ll leave a link to the books here and here. There’s actually nine books in this series, though I only have these two. Perhaps I should try and find the rest. Maybe the books improve as Corrie Bell grows up. 😉
And if you like pioneer novels, I’ll leave a link to another series I’ve recommended here. That series consists of eight novels, and I think somehow more skillfully pulls you into the lives of the characters than The Journals of Corrie Bell Hollister. That’s no reason not to read the journals, though!
That’s all for now! Do you enjoy pioneer novels? ~ Emily
