The Haunted Room
Hello! Today on Reading Wednesday I’ll be sharing another book published by Lamplighter: The Haunted Room.
This book actually began to grow on me a little more recently. We purchased it years ago, and I read it then, but never really saw much in it. After a another perusal, however, I found that I enjoyed it pretty well. 😉
The book follows the three Trevor siblings, Bruce, Emmie, and Vibert; as they are uprooted from their pleasant home, Summer Villa, and move to Myst Court. None of them are too thrilled at the change, but are, at the very least, resigned when the time comes. Emmie however has the most doubts, as Myst Court is rumored to be haunted. Her timidity often get in the way of her duty, which brings me to another point: the siblings must overcome the haunted chambers of their own hearts. Their besetting sins, if you will; the ones that they have become so accustomed to, it seems part of their personality rather than something that should be banned from their hearts.
Bruce’s is pride, Emmie’s a mistrusting nature, and Vibert, selfishness. All three siblings resist these reflections on their character at first; but as the book progresses, they realize how true they are.
