Altering a Knit Skirt: Part Two
Hello! Today on Simply Saturday I’ll be sharing altering a knit skirt: part two. Let’s get started!
And I’ll link to the first part of the process here.
Where we left off last week, I was just figuring out the excess material that needed to be cut off of the skirt. In the photo above you can see where I marked with chalk where I needed to cut.
After I cut it, I pinned it together and…
…sewed it together using the serger. Which has been working pretty well lately.
Then I removed the elastic from the piece of fabric that used to be the upper portion of the skirt.
And I then pinned it to what is now the top of the skirt.
For the next step, I serged that seam (the combination of the elastic and knit fabric somehow didn’t work too well with the serger. I don’t know if you can tell that in the photo or not).
After that, I was finished! It was really a pretty simple alteration, all things considered. Of course, working with stretchy material like this does come with its own set of problems; but nothing too difficult came up.
Well, that’s all for altering a knit skirt: part two. Have you been sewing anything lately? ~ Emily
