Denim Skirt Alteration
Hello again! Today on Simply Saturday we’ll be taking a look at a denim skirt alteration. Let’s get started!
This is the skirt I started out with. As you can see, it’s a little strange looking. The asymmetrical details where the gathered material met the smooth material really wasn’t a good look. So I decided to change that.
I started by making some chalk marks at the length I wanted to cut the fabric.
Then I joined those markings.
And then I cut along that line, leaving me with this portion of the skirt still on the dress form. Don’t worry, I wasn’t finished yet. 😉
And for the bottom portion I was left with this.
To alter that portion, I decided on the length that I wanted to cut it first. I marked it with chalk.
Since I thought it would be easier, I marked and cut as I went along, rather than marking the whole thing at once and then cutting it. I think it worked out pretty well!
And when I had finished with that step of the process, I was left with this. Which, as you may be able to tell, was much too big. But that’ll have to be enough for today. I’m planning on posting a second half next Saturday!
That’s all for now! I hope you enjoyed this post on another denim skirt alteration. Until next time ~ Emily
