Seasons of the Heart
Hello! Today on Reading Wednesday we’ll be taking a look at another series by Janette Oke.
And on a side note: you may have noticed that posts here on the blog have been few and far between lately. I’ve been pretty busy and unfortunately blog post writing sometimes get’s pushed a little too far down the to-do list. But if I miss any more posts in the future, just chalk it up to the reasons already listed. 😉
This series of books is a little different than the other Janette Oke books I’ve read (such as this one, this one, and this one), in that the protagonist is a boy rather than a girl. I still enjoyed the novels, however, even if it wasn’t quite as relatable. 😉
It follows the life of Josh, a twelve-year-old orphan who is cared for largely by his eighteen-year-old aunt. Josh lives on a farm, along with his grandfather, uncle, and aforementioned aunt. The stories are set largely in the four separate seasons; though some do skip a few years from book to book. Josh starts out as a young boy, and throughout the book matures into a young man with a family of his own to care for. These books also differ from the others in that, though there is a bit of romance, it also includes more of the details of regular life; such as the farm and school.
Where to find Seasons of the Heart:
So, unfortunately, I couldn’t find the same four-in-one book as the one that I bought. I’d suggest checking out Christianbook.com, or maybe Amazon. And of course keep an eye out at thrift stores!
Well, that’s all for now! I hope you enjoyed this post. What have you been reading lately? ~ Emily
