Modest Monday
The Last Dress of Summer

The Last Dress of Summer

Well, maybe. 😉 There’s still a little more of Summer left, so this one may not actually be “the last dress of Summer.” Anyway, I’ll move on. Today’s Monday, so you know what that means: Another outfit post! Let’s get started.

This outfit was worn for, you guessed, church a couple of Sundays ago. I’d never actually worn the dress before. (It’s a different story with the sweater however. That’s been worn several times.) I’m not sure why I never wore this dress before. It was just one of those things that hangs in your closet and you never pick it up. There’s not really a reason why. As you can see, I got over whatever was stopping me from picking it out. I really like how the outfit turned out, and am already planning out other combinations with the dress. Maybe with a denim jacket?

Please excuse the awkward hair pictures. We were trying to get these photos before leaving for church. Sometimes that doesn’t work out too well. 😉

This hairstyle was really simple, but I liked it so much that I’ve done my hair in the same way several times since then. (In fact, my hair is styled in the same way as I’m sitting here writing this.) That morning I didn’t want to do entirely half-up, but I didn’t think my hair could be left entirely down, either. So, I tried something else.

All I did was wet my hair and work some leave-in conditioner into it. Then I twisted back what would probably be considered my bangs if I had straight hair. (I’m not sure what they are with curly hair. 😉 ) I secured it with a claw clip, then smoothed down any frizzy places with more water and conditioner. And I was done!

Last Dress of Summer Outfit Details:

The sweater was from BJ’s, the dress, J.C.Penney. The shoes were picked up at the thrift store. My mom gave me the ring, I’m not sure where it came from. And the earrings, which you can’t really see, were bought at a resort gift shop on one of our vacations.

Well, I think that’s it for now. Do you like wearing dresses in Summer? If not, why? ~ Emily
