Escape from the Eagle’s Nest
Hello again! Today on Reading Wednesday I’ll be sharing another novel from Lamplighter: Escape from the Eagle’s Nest. Let’s get started!
Oh, and I’ll leave a link to some more Lamplighter books here and here.
This novel, written by an author who went by the initials A.L.O.E (A lady of England) recounts the story of Walter Gurney as he travels to India and Afghanistan. He is following in the footsteps of his father, who was a missionary.
Along the way, Walter meets many interesting personages; such as the wealthy Irishman who is determined to cross India’s border into Afghanistan; and Dermot Denis, a boaster who revels in danger and has the dangerous traits of vanity, selfishness, and an intense thirst for admiration.
To be honest, this book was probably enjoyed more by my brother and brother-in-law, than by myself. I did think it was a pretty good book, it’s just more of a “boy’s adventure story” than something I’d really be into to. But try it for yourself! You might be surprised. 😉

Well, that’s all for now. I hope you enjoyed this post. What have you been reading lately? ~ Emily
