The Scottish Chiefs
Hello again! Today I’m sharing another book. 🙂
This book is an interesting book set in Scotland. The hero of the novel is the gallant Sir Willam Wallace. It chronicles the rebellion of the Scots against King Edward in 1296-1305. Wallace has many adventures as he nobly fights to restore Robert the Bruce to his rightful throne.
I will say that, at some points, it does seem a little impossible that one man would be in possession of as many virtues and strengths as the author has bestowed upon Sir Wallace. (Rather like these novels, actually) As long as you look past some off those details, (such as characters fainting for unapparent reasons) you will be caught up in the epic tale. 😉
Of course, as is the case with many novels of this type, it can be a little confusing trying to keep all of the names straight. For example: Was he on the English or the Scottish side? Did I read that name already? Or does it just sound like another one… If you find yourself getting lost, I suggest just to keep reading. It’ll all come straight in the end.
The novel does have a very medieval, Ivanhoe-ish feel to it. It’s also about 500 hundred pages long. So, if you’re looking for a sweeping epic full of adventure, battles and a pinch of romance all set in craggy Scotland, might I suggest you look no further than The Scottish Chiefs?

That’s all for now. Until next time ~ Emily
