Styling a Dress: Flowers in Summer

Hello again! Today, I’ll be sharing a modest church outfit, featuring a dress!

The outfit for today was worn a few weeks ago. Whenever I think about wearing this particular dress, I’m always a little unsure as to wether it’s a bit too tight in certain places. My mom assures me that it’s alright to wear without a jacket or shawl (and I’m sure she’s right). But, personally, I just feel more comfortable when I do wear something over it. Don’t ask me why. 😉

With this outfit, I wanted something easy and cool for being outside, but also a little warmer since our church’s air conditioning can feel a bit cold sometimes. Yes, even in the hot, humid Summer. 😉

For a little bling, I did add a necklace, even though I sort of thought it was “busy” enough without one. My only other accessory was a pair of dangly earrings. And of course, I did spend a little more time on the hairstyle…

The Hairstyle:

…which I’ll explain here!

Usually a few days in advance I’ll have an idea of how I’ll wear my hair until the next time I wash it, which is usually twice a week (or less). I decided to add this hairstyle to the “rotation” after I noticed how a friend was wearing her curly hair. She was wearing her hair in a bun, but you could still see the pretty ringlets at the ends of her hair. I was inspired to try the same thing. I did change it a little bit by making it looser and fuller, but it still looks similar, I think. All I did was pull my hair, like I was making a ponytail, through one of those bun maker donut things, arranging my hair how I wanted around it. Then I just used bobby pins to keep it in place. Simple, yet elegant. 🙂

Outfit Details: I don’t have any idea where the shawl/sweater (also worn here, and here) came from. The dress was purchased from Amazon, the shoes are from Walmart. I think the necklace is from T.J.Maxx, and the earrings are from J.C.Penney. You’ll probably notice the earrings a lot here on the blog. I’ve worn them quite a few times since I bought them. 😉

Well, that’s it for now. Do you like to wear colorful prints? ~ Emily
