Prairie Legacy Series: Like Gold Refined
Today I’ll be sharing the last book in the Prairie Legacy series: Like Gold Refined. Let’s get started.
As I said, this is the last book of the series. (I’ll leave links to the previous three book reviews here, here, and here.) Next week I’m planning on taking a break from Janette Oke books, and share from another author. You’ve probably had enough of the prairie, right? 😉 Anyway, on to the book.
Jenny’s daughter, Mindy, has long been a full-fledged member of Virginia’s family, which consists of Virginia’s husband and three biological children. Mindy is looked upon as a daughter by Virginia and Jonathon, and the other children dote upon their big sister. Even the extended family members consider her as one of them.
Everything seems settled in their life, until Jenny, as is her wont, shows up abruptly. Mindy is aware that the woman is her mother, but she’s not sure what to do with her. Virginia is the mother she loves. Virginia, on the other hand, is very worried about her old friend. Jenny’s obviously not doing well, and eventually Virginia finds out the awful truth.
Their serene life is further rocked by what Jenny does next. She wants to take Mindy away from Virginia and Jonathon. They won’t give her up without a fight, however. Thus begins a long and costly legal battle. Virginia’s not sure if they’ll be able to keep the ranch Jonathon’s worked so hard for, but they wouldn’t think of letting Mindy go, whatever the price. Eventually, they believe they’ve won. But further hardship is not long in coming… Well, I shouldn’t give away everything about the book! Why don’t you read it for yourself?
