Handmade Circle Skirt and Heels

Handmade Circle Skirt and Heels

Hello! Today on Modest Monday we’ll be taking a look at an outfit that features a handmade circle skirt and heels. Let’s get started!

This skirt is actually a half circle skirt, but that’s just a technicality. 😉 Somehow I didn’t take any photos of the sewing of this skirt, so it won’t be making a Simply Saturday appearance.

But, I’ll give a short description of the process, anyway: I made my own pattern using a formula that I found on YouTube. The fabric I used was a bedsheet that I actually used for another project as well (I’ll link to those posts here, here, and here). The process was pretty easy; all I did was cut out the skirt pattern, make a waistband, and sew up all of the seams in-between! And I was pleased with the result, for the most part. The only part I wasn’t thrilled about is that the hem came out pretty uneven. I have a theory about fixing that in future projects, however; and when I’m wearing the skirt you can’t tell it’s uneven, anyway. 😉

My hair for this outfit was pretty simple. I just used a claw clip for a half-up/half-down style. This also worked well for Ultimate Frisbee later in the day. 😉

Handmade Skirt and Heels Outfit Details:

The shrug/sweater was from BJ’s. The tank top, J.C.Penney. The skirt was handmade, obviously, and the heels were picked up at a thrift store years ago. The earrings and necklace are both from Walmart. I’m not sure where the bracelet came from.

Well, that’s all for now. Have you been sewing anything recently? ~ Emily
